Personalization on the Web with Semantics
Die E-Commerce Group des Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems der präsentiert: Public Lectures in Business Informatics – Trends in e-Commerce WS 2010/2011
Lora Aroyo – Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Abstract:
This talk will present an overview of current trends and challenges in providing personalized access to Web-based applications and information collections. Based on several typical scenarios we will illustrate how the use of semantics affects the information retrieval, filtering, ranking and presentation. While semantics appear to bring added value to finding interesting and serendipitous information matching user’s interests and preferences, as well as generating explanations to the user why this information was offered to her, it also poses quite some challenges in terms of relevance ranking and presentation. We will present three concrete use cases explored in the context of three research projects: (1) NoTube – personalized access to TV content using content patterns in Linked Open Data, (2) CHIP – personalized access to enriched museum collections using content patterns in domain ontologies, and (3) PrestoPrime WAISDA? – interactive tagging game for collecting user-generated data and using it for the annotation of audio-visual collections. If the time allows, some of the prototypes for this work will be demonstrated.
